BEFORE YOU START

All documentation supplied with your application must be certified and translated (in full) into English. What does this mean?

A certified copy is a copy of an original document that has been witnessed and declared as being a true copy by a person authorised to make such a declaration. Examples of such authorised people are Aviation Australia contracted Educational Agents, Judges, Solicitors, Notaries Public and Justices of the Peace (JP). Australian Embassy, Consulate officers, NAATI translators,or representatives of language testing organisations (such as IDP) may also be able to assist with certification of documents. If the authorised person does not have a stamp, they must write on the copy “I hereby declare that this copy is a true and correct copy of the original document” and they must sign their signature and print their name and title underneath the declaration.

Translation services can be provided by NAATI certified translators, Justices of the Peace, and Notaries Public. Aviation Australia will not accept any document that has not been translated or stamped by a certified translator.

If your supporting documents are not certified, translated or in the correct format, your application will not be processed.

Additional Assessment Requirements:

For applicants from select countries, additional evidence may be required to assess your application. This may include, but is not limited to:

participation in a student interview;
working with an approved agent to support your application and visa;
a higher Academic IELTS level (6.0 with no band below 5.5),

You will be advised upon application if further details are required and we recommend that you wait to sit an Academic IELTS examination if you have not already completed the test.

English Language Proficiency:

The minimum requirement is an Academic IELTS with 5.5 overall and with no sub band score less than 5.0. Aviation Australia accepts these approved English language equivalent tests. Testing must have been completed within 2 years from the enrolment application date. Again, a higher IELTS score may be required.

Aviation Australia do not accept IELTS General Training test results.

Academic Suitability:

Evidence of completion of Year 12, or your country's equivalent, with a pass in Mathematics (at minimum Year 10 or equivalent). Where an applicant does not meet these requirements, Aviation Australia may consider sufficient relevant work experience (documented via a resume and referees) and/or a successfully completed higher level qualification that demonstrates academic suitability.

Aviation Australia uses these equivalent international education achievement levels.

Minimum of 17 years of age:

Applicants under the age of 18 may be accepted where it is demonstrated they will be under approved welfare arrangements. This arrangement requires the approval of the Department of Home Affairs.

Genuine Student (GS) Assessment:

Applicants must complete the Genuine Student questionnaire within this application form in order to be considered for enrolment.

Before you complete your application you should ensure you have researched your intended course of study and the rights and responsibilities of a student visa holder in Australia.

International Students are required to show evidence that they meet the Department of Home Affairs’ Genuine Student requirement for a student visa.

Ensure a grading tool/legend is included within your academic transcripts.

Aviation Australia may request additional documentation or an interview upon review of your application.

Failing to attach supporting documentation may delay your application. Your application will be considered incomplete if your documents are not certified, or translated. Aviation Australia keeps incomplete applications open for two weeks only, after which your application will be closed and you will have to reapply.

Genuine Student Questionnaire

The Department of Home Affairs’ Genuine Student (GS) requirement applies to all student visa applicants as an integrity measure to ensure that the visa program is used by those intending to study rather than entering Australia to participate in other, non-study activities.

The Department of Home Affairs will require you to provide a personal statement with similar information with your student visa application. Please refer to the Department of Home Affairs website for more information.

The following questionnaire will assist Aviation Australia to assess the genuineness of an enrolment application. This section must be completed by the applicant, in their own words and responses should be as direct and as brief as possible. Do not copy and paste information from a website or a source document; when reviewing your replies, we will be looking for commonly used phrases and quotes. If we believe your statement is not unique or genuine, we may choose to decline your application.

Unless it is specifically requested by Aviation Australia, please do not supply an additional Statement of Purpose.

All answers must be supplied in English.

1. Briefly describe your current circumstances (e.g., are you currently working, studying, travelling etc.). *

2. Describe what program you are applying for, including which city and campus you’ll be attending. *

3. Briefly describe why you have chosen the course for which you are applying and explain why you have chosen Aviation Australia as the provider. *You should be able to demonstrate that you have researched your study options and can provide specific reasons to support your choice of both course and provider.

4. Are there similar programs available in your home country (or region) and, if so, what led you to seek education in Australia? *

5. Describe your career goals and what employment opportunities you are anticipating when you return to your home country with your intended qualification. Please indicate your annual salary expectations and any promotion or business development opportunities that will result from your studies. *This could also include information about recent economic developments and international opportunities. Your response should indicate that you have done adequate research into your chosen study and career pathway.

6. Name some employers in your home country (or region) who you could work for after completing your intended qualification. *Please indicate if you have approached these employers regarding job opportunities.

7. Describe any compelling reasons for returning to your home country once you successfully complete your studies in Australia (e.g., a genuine employment opportunity, family etc.). *Evidence of a genuine employment opportunity should be provided, if possible.

8. If you already have a post-secondary qualification, describe how your studies at Aviation Australia will complement your previous study and/or experience. If there is no link, explain why you are seeking a change of discipline/career. *Note that major career changes and changes in education level (for example, going from a bachelor's or master’s degree to a diploma) need to be carefully explained.

9. If applicable, briefly summarise your employment history including the name of the company, job title and the duration of employment in each job you have held.
